What are OIFC SmartCast Custom Orthotics?

OIFC custom orthotics are specially-made devices designed to support and comfort your feet. These orthotics have a sleek and low-profile design. They are worn in your shoes and are not visible to others. You don’t need to buy larger shoes or new shoes.

OIFC custom orthotics are used to help relieve pain and avoid surgery. They are crafted for you by matching the contours of your feet precisely and are designed for the way you move. Your orthotics are manufactured after Dr. Manson has conducted a complete evaluation of your feet, ankles, and legs, so the orthotic can accommodate your unique foot structure and pathology.

OIFC custom orthotics are manufactured by Northwest Podiatric Laboratory. They are a premier orthotic manufacturer and use only the highest quality materials. Dr. Manson is certified with their SmartCast system. This is the latest technology allowing Dr. Manson to cast your feet for custom orthotics without using the old plaster method. Dr. Manson uses a 3D scanner attached to an iPad to take 3D scans and photos of your feet. This method is quick, more accurate, and much less messy with no clean-up required. On top of all that, it allows OIFC to have a faster turn-around time in getting your orthotics to you because the scans and prescriptions are sent electronically in just seconds. This takes days off the turnaround time compared to the traditional method.

What Do Orthotics Treat?

Dr. Manson uses orthotics to treat foot problems such as heel pain, arch pain, tendonitis, bunions, hammertoes, and many other causes of foot and ankle pain. Clinical research studies have shown that podiatrist-prescribed foot orthotics decrease foot pain and improve function.

During the activity, the arch of your foot goes up and down to absorb shock. As we age, the arch begins to collapse due to genetics and wear and tear. With that collapse of the arch, pain and disability can result. Custom functional orthotics are designed to control abnormal motion. They are used to treat foot pain caused by abnormal motion. Dr. Manson uses orthotics to get you back on your feet and doing the activities you enjoy.

What is the Cost of Orthotics?

Orthotics typically cost more than shoe inserts purchased in a retail store, but the additional cost is well worth it. Unlike shoe inserts, orthotics are molded to fit each individual foot, so you can be sure that your orthotics fit and do what they’re supposed to do. Prescription orthotics are also made of top-notch materials and last many years or even decades when cared for properly.

Oregon Institute of Foot Care custom orthotics cost $500. Insurance often pays for all or a portion of prescription orthotics and we would be happy to check and see if they are covered for you.
